Fight to Stop President Trump from Selling Out Our National Interests

The U.S. is and should be a world leader advocating for the spread of democracy, human rights, and economic freedom, which necessarily involves dealing with other countries.  But Donald Trump and his top associates have shady ties to the Russian government that are already the subject of a federal investigation, and Trump's business, which he actively profits from while President, operates in over 25 countries, many with interests contrary to our national goals.  For a recent example of how this corruption operates in practice, even though Turkey has recently become a recruiting ground for fundamentalist terrorism, it was not added to the list of 7 countries subject to Trump's Muslim Ban because the President has business interests in Turkey.  And Donald Trump's backing by Russia during the 2016 election makes his refusal to criticize Vladimir Putin, the ruthless authoritarian leader of Russia who has ordered the murder of journalists and political opponents, very suspicious.

Do Your Part to Protect our national interests

Don't underestimate the power of your voice in our system of government.  We have as much power over our government as we want to exercise.  If enough of us demand that our representatives investigate the Trump Administration's ties to Russia and that they pass laws to prevent the President from selling out the national interests to enrich himself.  Use the sample letter below and the following link to demand that your representatives take action.

I am very concerned about the Trump Administration's well-documented ties to the Russian government during the 2016 campaign.  I am also very disturbed at the potential for the President to advance his own business interests over our national interests due to his extensive foreign business holdings that he still directly profits from.  Confronting these serious threats to the country should be a nonpartisan issue.

I respectfully request to know what you are doing to pursue an investigation into the Administration's ties to Russia before and after the 2016 election.  I also want to know what steps you are taking to craft legislation that will protect our country from the President's foreign conflicts of interest.
